Today I am going to tell about a very small but interesting place called Riwalsar in Mandi District of Himachal Pradesh. There's a small lake here called Riwalsar Lake which is located about 24kms towards South-East of Mandi Town. Well there's certain historical events behind this small adventurous place. Lets see what they are ??? It is said that Lomash Rishi( A Saint) performed his meditation by standing in the lake and had his desires fulfilled. Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva( Also called TRINITY) Hanu, Durga, Ganpati and Dharamdhari descended from Heaven and floated on the water of the lake as rocks. They are known in the local terms as Bera and appear before the disciples to fulfill their desires. You must be wondering what names I am mentioning here. Well as you know India is a land of Gods, so I have mentioned the names of different God and Goddesses above.
It is also believed that Padmasambhaba went to Tibet from here to preach Buddhism and spread it all over the world.
Also if we talk about the Sikh history, in the year around 1758, 10th Guru, Shri Guru Govind Singh organised the Hindu kings against Aurangzeb, the Mughal emperor who was humiliating Hindus during that particular period. In his memory a gurdwara had been constructed along with the Buddhist monastery, Lomash-Temple and Shiva Temple. People bathe in the lake to attain piety.
